Maike van den Boom – Speaker
Maike van den Boom is an inspiring and well-grounded speaker of ‘Happiness’. She has travelled around the world for 9 weeks, interviewing scientists, journalists and hundreds of citizens of the 13 ‘happiest’ countries. Her book “Wo geht’s denn hier zum Glück ?” entered the bestseller lists in only a few weeks and is now translated in several languages. Her positive charisma and ingratiating smile, is a strength with which she is able to communicate painful and critical notes in a constructive way to an audience. Maike van den Boom questions the way people treat one another in our current societies. In her view, only humanist societies and companies are able to combine both: success and happiness.
Her motto: ‘Leading a happy life is totally unspectacular’. Happiness is the result of how one lives everyday life: i.e. living by certain values such as social trust, responsibility, respect, humanism; and by living with a strong social community, personal freedom, imperfection, improvisation, and, above all, the ability to laugh at life and yourself–which she does very often.
Maike van den Boom, half Dutch, half German, born 1971 in Heidelberg. Maike holds a degree in Art Therapy from the Netherlands, where she lived 13 years before she moved to Mexico for two years. With her background in marketing, communications and sales in different companies and markets in various countries, she is able to translate the advantages of ‘Happiness’ into the daily life of corporate management.
